The S.A.F Target Rifle was made in the 1960s in response to the National Rifle Association of Australia’s request for a target rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO. Based off the Australian Service Rifle of that time – the L1A1 SLR – the Target Rifle was made from the ground up as a single shot rifle. Unfortunately the Omark 44 was selected and production of the Target Rifle was stopped after only 132 units were made. I have number 42 of those 132 and thought I’d share the review of this unique piece of Australian History.
