The 45-70 Government is one of my all-time favourite cartridges. It has taken every North American big game and continues to attract a strong following to this day. I found the Marlin 1895GBL to perform flawlessly with just under an inch groups at 50 yards using an Aimpoint H1 2MOA red dot and Hornady 325gr FTX ammo. If you’re looking for something with a little more authority and a bit shorter in overall length, take a look at this rifle.
